Asclepius Occupational Health is expanding its commitment to employee wellbeing through a new partnership with Jon Colyer, professional coach and founder of Colyer Coaching. This collaboration offers organisations an additional, forward-looking way to support staff who may be experiencing workplace challenges.

With over a decade of experience in HR and people development, Jon understands how personal challenges, stress, or change at work can affect performance, wellbeing, and confidence. Having held senior roles across multiple sectors, he brings first-hand insight into the realities of modern workplaces and the pressures faced by employees, leaders, and teams. By combining this experience with professional coaching expertise, Jon helps individuals regain clarity, confidence, and direction in their professional and personal lives. All coaching sessions are confidential, providing employees with a safe and supportive space to talk openly and work towards sustainable change.

How Coaching Enhances Workplace Wellbeing

Coaching provides a structured, goal-oriented space for reflection and growth. It supports individuals in recognising unhelpful patterns, identifying solutions, and taking practical steps forward.

It can be particularly valuable in helping to:

· Support employees returning to work after stress, burnout, or long-term absence

· Build confidence, motivation, and emotional resilience

· Improve communication and self-awareness in the workplace

· Support leaders and managers to handle difficult situations effectively

· Help individuals develop practical strategies to manage pressure and prevent relapse

While counselling remains highly valuable for those who need to process or heal from past experiences, coaching takes a different focus. It concentrates on the present and future — helping individuals identify what they can influence, develop strategies, and move towards positive action. For many employees, this forward-focused approach aligns with a desire to rebuild confidence, improve resilience, and enhance performance following periods of challenge.

The benefits also extend to the wider organisation. When employees feel supported to take ownership of their wellbeing and professional growth, workplaces often see improvements in engagement, productivity, and morale.

How the Referral Process Works

The coaching referral process is designed to integrate seamlessly with existing Occupational Health pathways and provide a smooth, confidential experience for all involved.

1. The employer refers an employee to Asclepius Occupational Health for advice or assessment.

2. Following the consultation, the clinician may recommend coaching as a supportive intervention to aid recovery or development.

3. With the employer’s agreement, Asclepius securely shares the referral details with the coaching service.

4. The coach then arranges a confidential discovery call with the employee to understand their situation and discuss how coaching could best support them.

5. If the employee wishes to proceed, coaching sessions are scheduled.

Coaching is typically delivered as a structured programme of six sessions, providing time to explore challenges, apply learning, and build sustainable strategies for change.

Additional sessions can be arranged if further support is considered beneficial by the individual or the employer.

What Employees Can Expect

Coaching sessions are collaborative, practical, and tailored to each person’s circumstances. Employees are encouraged to reflect on what matters most, identify their own goals, and develop strategies for change. Sessions might explore topics such as managing pressure, improving relationships, rebuilding motivation, or navigating career decisions.

Jon’s approach is outcome-focused and grounded in empathy, while offering appropriate challenge to promote growth and accountability. He works with clients to enhance self-awareness and emotional regulation, enabling them to respond to challenges with greater confidence and composure. Many individuals describe finishing the process with renewed focus, resilience, and a clearer sense of purpose.
